Electronic Waste is a monumental issue around the world. According to the Global E-Waste Monitor 2020, more than 50 million metric tonnes (Mt) was created in 2019 alone. This represents an increase of 20% over the previous five years. Nearly 25% of the waste can be attributed to the United States. Within the United States, recycling is a dismal 9.4%. In addition to the traditional disposal, rapid advances in technology have led to a continuous stream of new digital products. Furthermore, the decreased life span of electronics such as mobile phones, computers, televisions, etc. have in turn increased the volumes of e-waste worldwide.
Creating a legacy of transforming communities and individuals are at the heart of eWaste Tech Holdings, Inc (“eWaste Tech”) and our story begins with you and every other person across the globe. Felipe, eWaste Tech’s Founder and CEO became acutely aware of the necessity for the proper management and disposal of computer equipment and data while consulting with federal agencies. He embarked on a journey of research and discovery and created systems that would marry the need of individuals and businesses, safely dispose of electronic waste (e-waste) while revitalizing economically distressed communities and individuals through our eWaste Workforce Vocational Programs, our Consumer Awareness Campaign, developing Collection Strategy for all consumers and businesses, and certified Electronic Waste facilities by doing our small part to address the recycling challenges.
In 2012, eWaste Tech Systems, LLC was established in Richmond, Virginia. During its existence, our pilot Training Curricula was the foundation of the eWaste Tech’s Workforce Development and Job Creation Program. During our inaugural job training program, there were ten (10) individuals selected to participate in our program from the Richmond area. Additionally, we trained additional 18 residents living in Enterprise and HUBZone’s communities with varying population backgrounds from veterans, returning citizens, underemployed, and persons with disabilities. The selected demographics and our pilot training model proved that it is possible to teach a vulnerable population valuable job skills that will lead to livable wages in an emerging industry.
In addition, eWaste Tech accomplished other goal during the existence of eWaste Tech
Systems:
1. Acquired a 20,000 square foot certified eWaste facility with the capacity to process 200,000 per e-waste per month,
2. Successfully collected and processed over 5,000,000 pounds of e-waste material,
3. Development of a Partnership with ResCare Workforce,
4. Successful partnerships with Crestwood Metals/ecoTech and Metals, Recycling, and Processing (MRP)
5. Awarded a 3-year contract with Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) to service 14 countries and 2 cities with the Central Virginia Region,
6. Graduated 25 individuals from the eWaste Tech’s Training Program and each candidate was hired by the company.
As much as was accomplished during our pilot program, eWaste Tech’s was unable to maintain the momentum due to the lack of much-needed resources and limited capital investment. This did not diminish the greater purpose, but instead fueled Mr. Wright to restructure eWaste Tech Systems, LLC to eWaste Tech Holdings, Inc in 2018, a forward-thinking innovative company positioned to change the e-waste industry and global communities: One Person and One Recyclable Asset at A Time!
THAT IS THE EWASTE TECH WAY!!!
